Eagles Don't Fly With Pigeons
Remember, superheroes such as the Justice League only hung out with each other!
Hey everyone, hope you had a great week!
So, let's kick off with a little confession: I'm a total gym junkie.
I grew up with sports and have been active my whole life. Keeping up with my health and being active is non-negotiable.
Recently, I had an injury that took a while for me to recover from.
I recently returned to do my H.I.T style workouts, so I have been slow crawling. I guess the universe had other plans. Today was the workout from HELL!
In addition to being an AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible), it was a partner workout. Now, in full disclosure, I was a little late. So when I got there, folks were already working out.
Let's say my partner's name was June. As we started working out, I could see June was not playing around. By the time we got one-third of the workout done, he shared that he trains and competes in competitions. That obvious!
At the end of the workout, the instructor said, "Hey, you two got after it today!" I asked her, "Why do you say that?" She said, "I was watching you two, and you guys did double of what you were supposed to do!"
Now, while I was contemplating my life as I worked out, and even as I was sitting on the ground trying to gasp for any air that I could, I had an epiphany.
So, how does this relate to development? Development is a long process, and it can be even longer depending on who you are working with, partnerships, etc. But what I have found is you need to build an ecosystem of people who are freakin' smarter and better than you (MUD Lesson #9). It's okay! Nobody will look at you as if you are unintellectual. Trust me! If people thought you were, then they wouldn't even have a conversation with you! Having people like June as a peer will make you push yourself and won't even tell you! It's just a universal law. If you want to be a bodybuilder, be around folks that are bodybuilders. Not your uncle who sits on the couch and tells you that you need to do xyz.
And remember, just like a well-constructed building takes time to rise, your journey in development requires patience and persistence. Surround yourself with those who elevate you, challenge you, and inspire you to reach new heights. After all, even the Justice League started somewhere—surrounded by like-minded heroes. So, go ahead, assemble your team, and let's build greatness together!
Peace!
